- 1 lb500 gLean Ground Canadian Pork
- 11small onion, minced
- 1/4 cup50 mLfine dry bread crumbs
- 1 tsp5 mLdried oregano
- 1 1/2 tsp7 mlgrated lemon rind
- 1 1/2 tsp20 mLwater
- salt and pepper to taste
- 44Hamburger or kaiser buns
- ..Tzatziki Sauce:
- 1/41/4cucumber, peeled and seeded
- 1 cup250 mLplain yogurt
- 1 tsp5 mLvinegar
- 11small clove garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 tsp7 mLminced fresh dill
- 1/2 tsp2 mLdried mint
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Several hours before serving, grate cucumber into colander. Sprinkle lightly with salt. Let stand 30 minutes. Rinse; press dry between paper towels. Combine with remaining tzatziki sauce ingredients. Cover and chill before serving. To prepare burgers, combine onion, bread crumbs, oregano, lemon rind, water, and salt and pepper. Add pork and mix. Shape into 4 patties. Preheat barbecue on high; reduce heat to medium. Barbecue on lightly oiled grill for 5-6 minutes per side, or until no pink remains. Serve on bun with a dollop of tzatziki sauce.
Note: Always cook ground pork to well done.
